Dating? Courtship? My Thoughts

Courtship. I was very intrigued when I first heard this term. It sounded very old fashioned (and I indeed first heard it when watching the movie "Old Fashioned"). And when I first started to research what that actually meant, I thought "Is there anybody who really uses this concept?". But as I learned about the motivations behind courtship, I realized that I had been wrong. In this post I'll tell you what I think of courtship and which aspects I would apply to my life.

The Moment I Fell For Him - How We Met Part III

I hope you're not tired of our story yet! But I can assure you, this is the last part and it's rather short.

So the day finally arrived. It was time for our first date! I carefully prepared myself as I wanted to be as pretty as possible! Then I took the train to the station where we would meet. He came by car. I hoped that he would await me when I arrived, but he was a little late. So I stood there on the platform, waiting impatiently. After what seemed like an endless period of time (5-10 minutes), he finally walked down those stairs. As soon as he saw me, his face lit up and he smiled at me. He looked so happy to see me, so happy that we could get to know each other better and maybe also happy that I didn't turn him down. I think I've never seen anybody so happy to see me than him in that very moment. And that was the moment I fell for him.

We had a great first date (we spend the whole day talking and walking around a little lake that happened to be there) and a great second date the week after. And also a great third date! Then, as I already told you,  we realized that we were already doing "more" than just dating and became a couple instead.

And that's how we met, more than two years ago! We already made it this far, but I hope that our relationship will continue to grow over the next few years until we're ready to take the next step. I'm eager to learn a lot more about healthy, stable and intentional relationships and I'll share whatever I'm learning on this blog with you :)

If you want to, please tell me in the comments how you met your partner! Did you date, did you court or did you take a totally different route?

On The Blog Week Eleven

Hey there!

Another week has past and we had two new posts on the blog. The first one was rather spontaneous and was about testdriving people on dates. The second one was the second part of how I met my boyfriend. Next week, there'll be the third and last part. And as I already said last week, there are a lot of topics that I'll cover soon, so the second post next week probably will be about one of those topics. But I've also got three recipes that I'll show you very soon.

I  hope to see you all again next week!

How We Met Part II

And the story continues ...

It again turned out to be a bit longer than I expected, so if you don't want to read through it all, here's the bottom line: It took me some time to realize that he was interestend in me, but then we fixed a date for well, our first date :D

So I logged onto Facebook on the next evening and to my surprise, he had not only send me a friend request but also send me a message saying hey little wolf girl. Wasn't that supercute? Since wolf girl is the literal translation of my name, Ylva, this means that he had already researched the meaning of my name by then. We started chatting the next day and talked about almost everything from movies to hobbies and our families. He said that he was already looking forward to cook pasta with me! Oh, what had I done? He took it serious when I uttered that invitation... I was very surprised, but still thought that he was just interested in friendship and I didn't evaluate if I had any feelings for him.

It also turned out that he was an apprentice at that time and also that he was already 25. He feared that the age would form an obstacle since I was only 18, but reading the messages again, I see that I didn't, as I thought, assured him it would not form an obstacle. I just changed the topic :D

He also told me that he thought I was nice and I replied that he seemed like a nice guy, too ^^ (as you see, I didn't suspect anything at all). We then found that we listened to the same music, which was quite funny, as most people do not share my taste in music.

And the conversation went on and on... I mentioned that I wanted to go see a particular band in November, he asked if anybody would accompany me and suggested that he come with me. And what did I do? Yeah, you've already guessed it. I still didn't think that he could be interested in me :D

The next day, he told me again how much he was looking forward to our "pasta date". And asked me if I wanted to meet him in his remaining holidays. I was like, yeah sure, why not, but my ticket does not encompass your town, so umm, I don't know. And then I changed the topic again :D But we got back to the question if we should meet within the next weeks and started to make plans. I finally started to sense that he might want more than friendship!

Two days later... the friends-with-benefits-guy suddenly texted me that he'd been busy the last 24 hours (as if this were an excuse why he didn't say anything for two weeks) and I just answered that I met someone. And my best friend told me that the guy who would be my future boyfriend thought I was cute! This was really happening! I couldn't believe it. I had always thought that the friends-with-benefits-thing was the most that I could expect a guy to want from me... I was so insecure, I wasn't sexy, I wasn't one of the pretty girls...

That day, I also hinted at my friends-with-benefits-involvement, but when he asked if he should worry about it, I said that he shouldn't be worried. In that very moment, I knew that it was over. And no matter if our date would be successful or not, I didn't want to return to that guy ever again. So my future boyfriend asked me if I was looking for a serious relationship and I said yes, I was.

A few days later, I told the friends-with-benefits-guy that it was really over and we would  never start again, as I wasn't sure that he had got it the first time. I dramatically threw away the few pictures I had of him and deleted all his texts :D

And I was looking forward to my first date ...

There'll be a  part three, I'm sorry, I'm not done yet :D But it's going to be way shorter.

On Testdriving People

As always on a free day, I logged into the women's forum that I'm in to read through all the new posts. Today I found something extraordinary and I knew I needed to make a blog post about it. So there's this young woman in her mid-twenties and here's what she says:

So far, I had sex with 7-10 men, I don't know the exact number. I love all the experience I was able to collect and I think that experience with as many people as possible is what makes sex good.

On The Blog Week Ten

Hey there!

This post is a little late because it was my boyfriend's birthday yesterday and I didn't have any time to use my laptop.

Anyway, this week there were two posts on the blog. On Tuesday, I shared my planner for 2017 and the little things I drew for it and on Friday, I shared the first part of how I met my boyfriend

Stay tuned for the next part this week and also another post where the topic will yet remain a surprise.

Thank you for stopping by this week!

2 Years Anniversary - How We Met Part I

Some weeks ago, on the 16th of August, my boyfriend and I celebrated our second anniversary! Well, maybe celebrated is a little bit much, we just had some cake after he came home from work.

Today I wanted to tell you the story of how we met :) But it turned out to be too long for one post, so I'll split it into two or three parts.

DIY Planner 2017

I've been looking for a cute planner for 2017, but I couldn't really find one that I liked... So I decided to buy a plain and simple planner and color the pages (that makes more than 52 pages!). Today I want to show you what I've drawn so far. I know I'm not a great artist, this is just for fun :)

This is the cover of the planner. Even though it's very simple on the inside, the cover is sooo beautiful and not simple at all! I got it on amazon for about 13$.

So here's the title page. I think Om Nom is super adorable! And it is very easy to draw.

On the next page, I drew a pea shooter from the Plants vs. Zombies video game. I really like these cute thingys. Also my boyfriend often tells me that I look like them ^^

That's how the blank pages look. The right side is meant for notes and I'm using it for pictures.

The first page that I did. As you see, it's not very artistic and rather simple, but still very colorful. For every page, I choose a quote from somewhere (a book or a song) and then try to do a matching background.

This one is from a german song (Krabat by ASP) and it says "I give you a raven's feather...". I found that song recently and I like it a lot. In this song, the feather serves as a pledge of the protagonist's love to an unknown girl and he promises that he will come back to her.

This is the page I did yesterday. The quote is adapted from 1 Corinthians 13:7. There are two more pages on 1 Corinthians 13 4-8 that I plan to complete in the next days.

I think I'll put all the new pages in the weekly "On The Blog" posts :)

On The Blog Week Nine - Instagram

Hello :)

Here's what happened on the blog this week.

This week turned out to be all about food, although I did not plan it ^^ I shared with you my recipe
for potato gratin with bacon and vegan croissants

And I got Instagram, so if you want to, you can add me there and take a look at my pictures :)

For the next few weeks, I've got a lot of ideas. I want to talk about courtship, dating, dangerous relationship models, I got at least two books to review, I want to do a movie review and I also wanted to start talking about religion. That's a lot :D and I don't know yet which topic I'll start with. Please tell me in the comments which topic you're most interested in!

I hope to see you all again next week!

Quick Snack Tip - Vegan Croissants

So today's post cannot really be called a recipe, as it only consists of two ingredients :D But it is superdelicious and you need absolutely no cooking or baking skills to do this. I also discovered by accident that the puff pastry that is sold here is vegan, as it can sometimes contain milk or butter, but this one doesn't. So you need to check the ingredients to make sure it's vegan (if you care about that).

So here they are: vegan croissants with jelly filling.

Potato Gratin with Bacon

Today I've got a new recipe for you :) I never tried making a potato gratin before because I thought it would take a lot of time and it would be hard to get the consistency right... This is also the dish that got my Mom desperate almost every time because no matter whose instructions she followed, the potatoes would end up unfinished.  But I got the dish finished in less than an hour, the consistency of the potatoes was perfect and it even tasted good :D So if you stayed away from potato gratin for the same reasons that I did, I can only encourage you to try this recipe.

This is how it looked before it went into the oven.

How to Write Two Term Papers in Two Weeks

Is it possible to write two term papers in two weeks? Well, appearently is is, because I did :D However, if you plan to write a lot of text in a relatively short time, you need to take some precautions. I collected some tips that really helped me getting through with it.

Of course, this does not only apply to term papers, but you can also use these tips if you're writing a thesis or a novel, blog posts - basically, any kind of longer text.

Let's get started!
